Update From the City Council

We received this statement from John Williams, Deputy City Manager late this afternoon. He indicated the School District had seen and approved the statement. In short, negotiations continue and they are planning to actively engage the public as we head towards a May 2022 bond measure.

“The West Linn City Council and West Linn‑Wilsonville School Board are actively engaged in discussions about a potential purchase of the Oppenlander Fields property on Rosemont Road. The purchase would require approval by West Linn voters, and a ballot date of May 2022 is currently planned in order to allow the community adequate time to discuss this issue once terms become public. The Council is committed to a robust public process and looks forward to being able to talk openly with the community very soon.”

  1. How was Oppenlander acquired in the first place? Was it thru an acquisition of school and city or was it purchased with bond $$ tax payers have put into?

  2. Thanks Dean; glad you remain on top of this issue. City and school Board might also consider a land swap or a joint venture and thus avoid necessity of a bond measure.
