We need to help and demand the City and School District come back to the table with a clean slate to renegotiate in good faith.
Our resounding voice and support is our highest leverage!
Please join us at our rally TODAY, Sunday 9/8, at 4 pm in front of Oppenlander Field
Bring your children!
Where: in front of Oppenlander Fields
1270 Rosemont Rd, West Linn
Sunday 9/8 at 4 pm
Please come to the rally with signs of encouragement and support for the District to make a win-win-win decision, and for both parties to see mutual “good faith” as a sacrifice and victory where we all win and that we all support.
We’ll discuss further strategy and answer questions at the rally.
We’ve invited the press, but it’s you and your family that are most important. At trial, the District and City both said they came together in 2021 in response to public pressure. We can’t give up now!
We must act now and strongly to keep Oppenlander Fields from slipping away from this and future generation’s use as a community park.
BACKGROUND
It was our unified active voices, emails, and in person rallies that got the City and School District back to the table in 2021. It was our unified voice at the voting booth that passed a bond measure with a 2:1 margin.
The School District is motivated and itching to sell Oppenlander to a developer for 35 to 90 new homes, and in doing so West Linn will lose almost 50 years of Oppenlander open space/park history and the only full size recreational fields in central and north West Linn.
Some say we are crazy, and the District is only after the highest cash return. But we know “good faith” and a passion for the community are in the District’s DNA … we need to help the City & District re-find their core values, and let them know we support them today, through the difficult decision it will take to sell/buy at a renegotiated, reasonable, and appropriate price that makes it possible for all of us to keep Oppenlander a park serving generations of children to come.

Oppenlander Fields, paid for in the 70s primarily by West Linn citizens, has been an active community resource for over 40 years with three active softball fields and a walking path.
