Evening – February 19, 2025
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Almost 500 emails have been sent to City Hall over the past 12 hours, and I am sure by the end of the evening we’ll be well on our way to 600 – keep them coming! (click here)
City Council knows we care, we are engaged & passionate, and we want the opportunity to vote on Oppenlander.
Council is considering scheduling a meeting in time to formally discuss and vote on sending an Oppenlander bond to the ballot. We’ve asked that they also, in advance of that meeting, direct the City Manager to prepare a template so the final numbers can be easily inserted when the council hopefully votes YES to sending the bind to the ballot. There is time for them to get everything done, but we can’t afford to waste a day.
THE PRESSURE MUST BE KEPT ON THEM TO ACT QUICKLY and to formally make a YES vote.
RALLY SCHEDULED AT CITY HALL – THURSDAY 4:30 – 5pm (2/20)
We’re inviting the press (TV & print), the City Council, our City Manager, and our Parks Director. We need a good showing to reinforce our ask. We’d like 200 (or more) of you to attend, with your children, if possible.
Many folks will not be off of work in time to get there by 4:30, so the rest of us need to compensate for them. If you’ve never been to an Oppenlander rally, please know that we are respectful and family friendly … And we will be brief!
We will bring everyone up to speed, answer questions about the proposed bond, share a bit about an interesting public/private partnership proposal, discuss next steps, and answer questions.
Best regards,
The Friends of Oppenlander team
